At the early hour of 6:16 am, eastbound high priority container train, CSX Q136 rounds the bend near E.E. Quinnimont, slithering along the banks of the New River toward Hinton.

On this cold and snowy January day the old signlas at Riffle are still guiding through the area. But they were on borrowed time as just over two months later they would be gone.

Sunrise in the Gorge. 1800 feet below, Eastbound intermodal Q136 begins to traverse the one mile wide horseshoe curve around the base of Backus Mountain.
